Anesthesia EMR Software Integrations & Interoperability

Plexus Technology Group (Plexus TG) uses HL7 standards for scheduling, ADT, and other message types. We have proven experience integrating with facility’s existing EMR systems, numerous anesthesia machines, patient monitors, and other monitoring devices. Implementing an AIMS (anesthesia information management system) with real-time integration that continues from preoperative care through postoperative care:

"Anesthesia Touch electronically delivers complete documentation to the billing office, which speeds up both the billing and revenue collection process. The billing office has access to the complete, easy-to-read anesthesia documentation including preop evaluation, patient consent form, anesthesia record, discharge note, and captured images."

Chief Information Officer
Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital

  • enhances patient safety
  • reduces errors
  • increases reimbursement
  • eliminates duplicate entry
  • saves time
  • improves accurate documentation
  • stores analytical data for reporting

Plexus TG utilizes an interface engine to send and receive data - Surgery Schedule (HL7 SIU), Registration (HL7 ADT),  Lab Results (HL7 ORM), Patient Assessment (Allergies, Medications, Hx), Pyxis/Omnicell, Professional Charges, Hospital Charges, and more.

Scheduling (HL7 SIU) & Registration (HL7 ADT)

Plexus TG is able to integrate with many different scheduling and registration systems using an HL7 SIU & ADT interface in order to automatically update the patient registration and surgery schedule in Anesthesia Touch.

Alternate Options: "Print to Schedule" feature using a PDF copy of the schedule or the Plexus TG integrated scheduling application.

Existing client interfaces include:

  • HL7 SIU interface: Allscripts, CPSI, McKesson, MEDITECH, Siemens Invision & ORSOS
  • HL7 ADT interface: Allscritps, CPSI, McKesson, MEDITECH, Siemens Invision, & Siemens Sorian
  • OR Manager Interface: Picis
  • "Print to Schedule" interface: CPSI, EPIC, GE Centricity & ProVation

Patient Assessment (Allergies, Medications, Hx)

"We selected Plexus TG as we found their system to be the most intuitive on the market and one that our end users will find very efficient. Plexus TG has also been responsive to our needs, tailoring the system to meet our specific work flow requirements."

Barry Ryle, Chief Information Officer
Oswego Health

Plexus TG is able to integrate with a facility's EMR system to import preoperative information, so it's automatically added to the anesthesia preop evaluation document within Anesthesia Touch. Utilizing a preoperative interface, anesthesia providers can quickly verify information on the preoperative form.

Existing client interfaces include:

  • CCD Interface: MEDITECH
  • Data import interface: McKesson

Physiologic Monitors

Anesthesia Touch is designed to automatically receive patient data from physiologic monitors and anesthesia machines and incorporate it directly into the electronic anesthesia record. With the installation of a Nexi device, Plexus TG is able to accurately integrate Anesthesia Touch with our client’s physiologic monitors. Plexus TG is able to integrate with numerous models and brands of physiologic machines to gather the most data for full and accurate records.

Lab Results (HL7 ORM)

Interfaces with systems housing information on lab work ordered can be added into an anesthesia record for easy reference during a case. Providers can have all necessary patient information in a single system increasing time spent on patient care.

Existing client interfaces include:

  • HL7 ORM Interface: McKesson, MEDITECH, Siemens Invision & Siemens Sorian

Quality Measures

Utilizing the PMIRS reporting system, clinicians are able to generate various quality reports by accessing the quality data captured in Anesthesia Touch.  These quality reports can easily be used to submit the quality data to national registries such as ABG, ASA, and MiraMed QCDR

Active Directory

For facilities that give providers logins for other systems, Anesthesia Touch can interface with these systems and use the current logins for access to Anesthesia Touch. Active directory provides users with fewer login credentials to remember and allows user roles to be assigned automatically.

Billing Data

Anesthesia Touch electronically delivers complete documentation to the billing office, which speeds up both the billing and revenue collection process. The billing office has access to the complete, easy-to-read anesthesia documentation including preop evaluation, patient consent form, anesthesia record, discharge note, and captured images.
